― 東京クラシッククラブへ入会されたきっかけを教えてください

私の推薦人の一人になってくれた美澤臣一さんに誘って最初にプレーしたのが2018年5月でした。コースやクラブの雰囲気が大好きで40回ほどプレーしました。いつかはメンバーになりたいと思っていたところお声がけいただき、念願のメンバーになることができました。

— What inspired you to join Tokyo Classic Club?

Mr. Shinichi Misawa, who became one of my sponsors, invited me to play, and I first played in May 2018. I loved the course and the atmosphere of the club so much that I ended up playing around 40 times. I had always hoped to become a member someday, and when I was invited to join, I was delighted to finally fulfill that long‐held wish.

― 東京クラシッククラブの気にいっているところを教えてください

全国には素晴らしいゴルフクラブがあり、どういった観点からそれを評価するかはひとそれです。私はメンバー・ファーストで運営されているクラブを高く評価していますが、東京クラシックはその点が素晴らしいと思っています。スタッフの皆さんの我々への接し方、コース整備やその考え方、予約やプレースタイルの選択等々数え上げればきりがありませんが、東京クラシッククラブはそれらがすべて高いレベルにあると感じています。

— What do you like most about Tokyo Classic Club?

There are many wonderful golf clubs throughout Japan, and how one evaluates them differs from person to person. I place great value on clubs that are run with a member‐first approach, and I feel Tokyo Classic Club truly excels in this respect. From the way the staff treat us, to the course maintenance and the thinking behind it, to the flexibility in reservations and playing styles, there are too many things to mention — but I feel that Tokyo Classic Club achieves a high level in all of them.

― ゴルフとの出会いは

多くの皆さんと同じように社会人になったときに職場の先輩の勧めで始めました。地方勤務時代に本格的にプレーするようになり、米国留学中にゴルフにはまりました。最近はもっぱら家族や友人との交流や自分自身の健康のためにプレーしています。ストレスが溜まるので月例など競技はサボり気味ですが、チャンスがあれば参加したいと思っています。

— How did you first get into golf?

Like many people, I started playing golf when I entered the workforce, at the recommendation of a senior colleague. I began playing in earnest during a posting to the regions, and became hooked on golf while studying in the United States. These days I mainly play to spend time with family and friends and for my own health. Competitions such as the monthly medal tend to add stress, so I admit I’ve been a bit lax about joining them, but I’d like to take part whenever the chance arises.

― クラブのメンバーになってどのようにクラブライフを過ごしていますか

子育てが一段落して、最近家内がゴルフをまたやるようになり、家内や娘たちと一緒にプレーすることが多いです。長女はときどき乗馬も楽しんでいます。東京クラシックのコースはよく考えられており、技量に応じた様々なルートが用意されているため、飛距離の出ない女性でも楽しめると喜んでくれています。今後は他のメンバーの皆様とのプレーも増やしていきたいです。

— How do you enjoy your club life as a member?

Now that child‐rearing has settled down, my wife has recently taken up golf again, and we often play together with her and our daughters. Our eldest daughter also enjoys horseback riding from time to time. The course at Tokyo Classic Club is very well designed, with a variety of routes suited to different skill levels, so even women without much hitting distance can enjoy it — which makes my family happy. Going forward, I’d like to play together with other members more often as well.

1965年生まれ、東京都出身。東京大学卒業後農林水産省勤務を経て、2001年に企業向けの人材開発プラットフォームを提供する株式会社ライトワークスを創業。同社代表取締役社長。

◯ Natsuo Eguchi

Born in 1965 in Tokyo. After graduating from the University of Tokyo, Mr. Eguchi worked at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries before founding Lightworks Co., Ltd. in 2001, a company that provides a talent development platform for corporations. He currently serves as the company’s President and Representative Director.
